Page One Female Property Specialist: Lynne Thornton

Lynne is a co-founder and director at Groundfloor, an on-premises smart parcel locker system for high density commercial, residential, and student accommodation buildings.  Since founding, Groundfloor has expanded its footprint across ANZ including Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane, the Gold coast, and Auckland.  Groundfloor is backed by Taronga Group, a leading proptech venture capital firm with global partners including CBRE, Dexus, ISPT and Vicinity Centers.

Lynne is an entrepreneur with a track record as a founder, investor, and mentor to start-ups.  She has co-founded 2 technology companies and 1 financial services firm across the UK and Australia. Lynne’s investment background spans listed equities, start-ups, private companies, a SPAC and a management buy-out.

Lynne is passionate about supporting start-ups and female entrepreneurs through investment and mentoring. She sits on the investment committee for Artesian’s Female Leader’s Fund, a $100m fund focused on Series A and B investment rounds for female led companies in the Asia Pacific region.  The Female Leaders fund is backed by Host Plus and Legal Super launched by Artesian in partnership with Scale Investors. For several years, Lynne was an active angel investor and board member of Scale Investors, an angel network supporting female entrepreneurs.  During her time at Scale Lynne streamlined investment processes, mentored entrepreneurs and facilitated investment into start-ups.  For 5 years, Lynne was on the board and investment committee of FirstStep Investments, a fintech company specializing in providing investment platforms to financial institutions.

In 2021, Lynne joined the board of Integral Acquisition Corporation, a NASDAQ listed special purpose acquisition company focused on ANZ.  Integral provides access to capital for the next stage of growth for a successful ANZ based technology company.

Lynne worked in the funds management industry for 15 years initially for Colonial First State in London then co-founded, global equities boutique, Aubrey Capital Management, based in Edinburgh.    She was a director, member of the Investment Committee, and managed key relationships with both Australian institutional clients and with cornerstone investor, The Treasury Group (ASX: PAC) before successfully exiting the business in 2017.

Her professional career has included roles in the consumer sector, proptech, logistics and the funds management industries in the US, UK, and Australia.   Lynne holds a B.S. in finance, real estate, and law from California Polytechnic University and an MBA from the University of Cambridge in England.
